Facebook founder Mark Zuckerman, has announced the re-design of the social networking site’s profile pages. The new look features larger profile pictures, photos at the top, and a more detailed list of member information in the introductory first paragraph.
The company's statement indicates the tweaks are optional at this point, with members opting in to the changes, but comments from users dispute the optionality of it saying the changes just occurred without their knowledge. According to Loudilla Johnson co-founder the the International Fan Club Organization "Well, I did NOT opt for it, but got it just the same. Choices seem to be deal with it, or deactivate the account. Sorta' take it or leave it" Others say the change has caused them to loose administrative privileges on group pages and friends have disappeared from their lists.
The last major Facebook update in May 2008 also proved to be unpopular - being launched after providing ambiguous screen shots to members. A smaller but still unfavored change in March 2009 introduced Twitter-esque status updates.
While some are looking into the future of the new changes and trying to find the positive attributes, most of those who are not in favor seem to be more upset about the way Facebook introduced the change and the various problems associated with it.
