Nothin' Fancy's Chrs Sexton Opens Private Instruction Studio

Nationally acclaimed bluegrass and classical performing artist Chris Sexton is proud to announce the opening of his private strings instruction studio in Old Town Manassas, beginning in January 2011! ...

In celebration of this opening, Chris is hosting a celebration party and open house on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 3:00pm. Hors d'oeuvres, cheeses and a selection of local Virginia wine will be served. An accomplished performer widely recognized in his field, Chris has been a member of the award-winning bluegrass band Nothin’ Fancy since 1998. Nothin’ Fancy has grown into a regional touring force, and are the three-times running Bluegrass Entertainers of the Year SPBGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association) award winners for 2008, 2009 and 2010. All told, Nothin’ Fancy has been nominated individually or as a group for no fewer than 33 SPGBMA, IBMA, and GMA Dove Awards.

Chris has taught through the Prince William and Fairfax County school systems, as well as taught violin, viola, cello and bluegrass fiddle through the Picker’s Supply, Foxes Music, American Children of SCORE, and Contemporary Music Center music facilities. Concurrent to his work with Nothin’ Fancy and private instruction, Chris earned his Master of Music Pedagogy degree from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester VA, graduating with a 3.90 GPA.

Sexton Music Studio is a proud member of the Manassas Old Town Business Association (OTBA), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the National Association for Music Education (MENC), the Manassas Art Guild, Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Association (SPBGMA), International Bluegrass Music Association (IMBA), and the DC Bluegrass Union (DCBU).
Lessons are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, start at $30 per lesson and take place on the third floor of the historic Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Church 
building
