Colorado River Festival is Back!

Southern California, Nevada and Arizona Bluegrass Fans missed out on some great bluegrass last year when Randy Gray's Colorado River Festival held for 9 consecutive years on a sandy stretch of Colorado River beach that marks the border between Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV took a hiatus in 2010.  The Good News for those fans is: IT'S BACK !  This Weekend!

The Colorado River Bluegrass Festival set for Davis Camp on Friday, February 11 through Sunday, February 13, (beginning 9 a.m. AZ each day). For those who don’t know, Davis Camp is that palm tree studded area just north of the Laughlin Bridge on the Arizona side of the Colorado River.

“Not only do I really like the music but I really like the people who come to bluegrass festivals,” Gray told the Laughlin Entertainer.  “They are so humble and down to earth. Most of them are older and the music takes them back to their childhood. This is the 10th bluegrass festival I’ve held in the area and we’ve never had a single issue or argument with anyone at any of them" Gray said.

Banjo picker Marty Warburton may be a whiz
on the 5-String but if you've never seen him

Emcee a festival before, he just could be

worth the admission price
all by himself.

This is the 10th such festival for Gray but not in consecutive years. There was a break in the string when he didn’t hold one last year due to the economy. For most of the festivals, Gray has had the backing of a few sponsors, usually one casino jumps in and helps his efforts. Not last year. Not this year.

“I need people to come out more than ever,” he said. “I don’t have a single sponsor. I need to get people to show up, so I can continue bringing seven of the best bluegrass bands you can get to play their music to area bluegrass fans.”

The Lineup this year includes:

Admission is $15 (ages 18 and up) $5 (17 and under). Camping at the site, $10 (gates open Wednesday, February 9, 9 a.m. AZ for those setting up camp). No advance ticket sales.

Vendors will be set up at the festival site offering not only food and drink but all manner of crafts and merchandise. Bring your own lawn chairs for seating.
