Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike On-The-Road, Becky Buller's 2nd Posting!

Guest Blogger Becky Buller writes About "Life On-The-Road" while in-between shows:

Hey, everybody.

From Palmdale, J. Gregory drove us over to the Seminole Indian Reservation where the casino gave us each $30 to play on. Val, Shane and I lost ours immediately. J. Gregory and Dave won some. Being a non-gambler from Minnesota, Dave felt horribly guilty taking money that wasn't his. We convinced him it was ok, so he cashed out, but insisted on taking us out to dinner at Steak & Shake as soon as we were back in civilization. In the meantime, Shane was showing me the intro to Tony Rice's "Ginseng Sullivan" on guitar. There are some advantages to being out of pocket, namely more time to work on music!

While rolling down the road, past cows and orange groves, Dave and I each worked on some editing, he on a project he's recording for Bill Cagley up in Minnesota and I on some celebrity liners for our radio show. Shane was in the bunk watching Louis L'Amour westerns and eating Cheez-its.

After two days in the Florida swamps without cell or internet signal, we emerged yesterday in Vero Beach at an outlet mall.

Becky's book, Dave's sandals, Shane's Cheez-Its
Val was happy; they had a BCBGMAXAZARIA outlet and she found some seventeen-inch heels on sale. (What does the BCBG stand for?) I found tall jeans on sale at Banana Republic (my stars!), Dave got a pair of Jesus sandals ("Jerusalem cruisers" is what Shane calls them), J. Gregory found some new wogging shoes, and Shane slept in peace and quiet while the rest of us were off the bus.

After our Steak & Shake feast (thanks, Dave!), we went grocery shopping at Wal-Mart, where we ran into Bob who was a the festival and I got a call from our DJ buddy Tim out in Colorado. Then it was back to the truck stop for the night.

My bunk looks like a library, I brought so many books. But a girl has to have choices! Right now, I'm reading "Roller Skates" by Ruth Sawyer, the 1937 Newberry Award Winner. I think I'll pass it on to Josie (Val's daughter) when we get home because she just got a pair of skates. I've got "Zen And the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" with me, too, George. Will try to finish that up soon and get back to you on it.

We're currently in the Best Buy parking lot. J. Gregory needed a new DVD player for his TV in the back. It's raining or I would be out walking. I think we're going back to Wal-Mart in a bit...

We plan on doing some filming in St. Augustine tomorrow. Such a pretty town! Where was that Cuban restaurant again? Yummy!

Over and out!

Becky
