DAILEY & VINCENT WIN FIRST GMA DOVE AWARD

SINGING FROM THE HEART NAMED BLUEGRASS ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT 42ND ANNUAL GMA DOVE AWARDS

NASHVILLE, TENN.  (April 21, 2011)—Dailey & Vincent won their first Dove Award, for Bluegrass Album of the Year, at the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards show held last night at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.   The award recognized their all a cappella gospel collection on Rounder Records, Singing From the Heart, released as a fund-raiser for the Tennessee Bible College in Cookeville, Tennessee.

The 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards will air on gmc on Easter Sunday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
While Dailey & Vincent earned a GRAMMY nomination this year for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and are the reigning three-time International Bluegrass Music Association Entertainers of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year, this marks the first time they have been honored by the Gospel Music Association.

“We are incredibly humbled and thankful,” said Jamie Dailey.  “We want to thank all of the wonderfully talented singers who joined us on this record, as well as Rounder Records and everyone who supported the project.”

“We love to glorify the Lord with our singing, and this album was a joy to record,” added Darrin Vincent.  “To know that it’s also raised money for scholarships at the college is especially gratifying.”

The recording of Singing From the Heart began in 2001, several years before Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent began their career as a duo.  The a cappella arrangements honor the Church of Christ’s practice of singing without instruments.  Tennessee Bible College is a Church of Christ institution.

To record the album of quartets, Dailey & Vincent enlisted help from the very best of vocalists from the worlds of bluegrass, southern gospel and country music.  Guests on the album include tenor Andy Ball; bass Glenn Dustin; tenor Anthony Facello; baritone Tony King; tenor Shawn Lane; bass Jeff Pearles; as well as Doyle Lawson, who sang baritone on “Near the Cross;” and Molly Skaggs, daughter of Sharon White and Ricky Skaggs.
