John Cowan Confirmed for Phil Leadbetter Benefit

Mike Kelly from WDVX Radio who is spearheading much of the Phil Leadbetter benefit activity just sent a note:
"Don't know if you saw this yet or not...just spoke with John Cowan today. He and a band will be with us on June 4th in Kodak, TN for another Phil benefit. John has fronted his own band for years and was a member of New Grass Revival. He is a current member of The Doobie Brothers! "
To find out more about the various benefits scheduled for Phil, check out the special webpage created.

The Uncle Phil Fund Website is now a reality!

Fans, friends, family and well-wishers can now go to a special dedicated website for News Updates on Phil's condition as well as what's happening with the various fundraising efforts currently underway.

Throughout his life, Phil has always been the first to pitch in and help a friend or cause in need. While he hasn’t asked for the first penny, he’s so deserving and that’s why some of his friends started this website as a way to help the cause and give all of Phil’s friends and fans a place where they can donate online. -Quote from the website.

Mike Kelly a disc jockey with WDVX Radio who is spearheading much of the events surrounding Phil sends this note:
Just wanted to let everyone know that the www.unclephilfund.com website is up and running. The PayPal link was verified today. You can now send dontations via their secured link. We will also continue to update our benefit information on there too. Thanks
Bluegrass music's 3-time Dobro Player of the Year Phil Leadbetter; formerly with J.D. Crowe, Grasstowne and now with the Grammy® award-winning family group The Whites, was diagnosed not long ago with classic Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer that effects the body's immune system.  His first chemotherapy session was scheduled for today 4/20/2011.

Phil who has also played with the Grandpa Jones Band, bluegrass group Wildfire, Marty Raybon and country music star Vern Gosdin, retired from a medical career as a head injury nurse to become a full-time professional musician in 1992.

According to Kelly, you can make donations via their (PayPal's) secure link to help offset the expenses Phil is facing due to his battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Please check it out when you get a chance and spread the word! We also have info about the scheduled benefits on there.
