Four Songs from "Road Trip" Available For Radio Download,
CD Release Party To Be Held In Nashville Art Gallery!
C.W. Mundy will soon be celebrating the August 2nd release of his Moon Surf Records debut recording, Road Trip, an eclectic mix of original banjo-driven tunes with the acclaimed fine arts painter at the wheel.
To whet the appetite of current and future fans of the artiste, four songs will be made available to radio this Monday, July 18th, via Airplay Direct. Two instrumentals and two featuring the lead vocals of Alice Vestal, the tunes serve as a representative cross-section for all sixteen tracks on Mundy’s project.
“Road to Damascus”, the lead-off track on Road Trip and first single available, is a progressive bluegrass instrumental that, from the first notes of the intro, warns the listener to buckle up as this will be one exciting ride. The other instrumental, ”Not Gonna Settle For Less” shows Mundy’s trips to France did more than inspire his painting as this swing tune clearly has some Grappelli and Reinhardt influence in the mix. “I Cried Love”, reminiscent of an Alison Krauss recording, is a tribute to both Mundy’s faith and marriage, featuring the velvety vocals of Alice Vestal. “Mid-day in Manaus” is an unexpected detour into the Brazilian city’s market, with a techno beat and local culture-laden lyrics.
The CD release party is to be held at Richland Fine Art gallery in Green Hills on Tuesday, August 9th, with a reception beginning at 5:00pm and a live performance at 6:30pm, visually accompanied by at least a dozen of Mundy’s oil paintings, which are to remain on display for the month. Sharing the stage with Mundy will be co-producer and engineer, Scott Vestal, Alice Vestal, Randy Kohrs, Jeff Autry, Todd Parks, Eamon McLoughlin, and Daren Shumaker. Raffle tickets will be sold on behalf ofMusicians Against Childhood Cancer, an organization benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Prizes include several autographed CD’s and T-shirts, with the grand prize being a framed C.W. Mundy original 9x12 oil painting.
