Chris Davis Joins Ramblers Choice

Junior Sisk and Rambler’s Choice have a new mandolin/fiddle player

Chris Davis was born in Xenia, Ohio on October 9, 1979 to Danny Lee and Susie Davis. He was born into a family of musicians.

His Grandfather Elzie Davis played the fiddle, his Father Danny Lee Davis plays the banjo and sings and traveled with Ralph Stanley playing bass and singing harmony. His brother Wes Davis played the guitar and sang as well.

The Davis’s created the “Davis Brothers Band” and began playing bluegrass music as a family.

Chris is a self-taught musician who began playing mandolin and singing at age fifteen.
He was influenced not only by family, but other bluegrass musicians and singers as well, such as Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe, Red Allen and Keith Whitley. Chris has endured many personal obstacles over the years. One of these many obstacles was the unexpected loss of his brother, Wes Davis in March of 2006. Chris’s passion for music became stronger after the passing of his brother.

At the age of 18, Chris started traveling with The Bluegrass Strangers playing mandolin and singing harmony. After he gained some experience as a road musician, he went on to work with bands such as Honey Deaton and; Dream, Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time, Larry Sparks, III Tyme Out and Alecia Nugent just to name a few.

Chris released his first self-titled album on June 1, 2011. This album is composed with many familiar bluegrass musicians and singers. The album features artists including Larry Cordle, Marty Raybon, Jamie Johnson, Melonie Cannon and Kristen Benson.

For the last three years, Chris played mandolin and fiddle and sang tenor and baritone as a member of Marty Raybon & Full Circle. He has recently become the newest member of Junior Sisk & Rambler’s Choice. When he isn’t on the road doing what he does best, he resides in Northeast, KY where he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
