An impressive, six-minute trailer of the film is available to watch [video included below].

The documentary includes interviews with a number of John’s friends and fellow musicians, from Glenn Campbell and Tommy Smothers, to Marty Stuart and Cowboy Jack Clement, to childhood pals and members of John’s band.

“We took the John trail about as far as we could, even back to Missouri, talked to one of his schoolmates, and scanned old photos,” Marcy says.

Sheila and Marcy met John at Mark O’Connor’s fiddle camp in 2000 and became instant fans. “John would sit on the front porch and fiddle all day and evening for anyone who wanted to sit with him, listen, play along,”

Marcy recalls. “He was a huge inspiration. I was beginning to be a fiddler myself, and when I heard John play, I decided that was the sound that I loved best and wanted to make.”

The pair hopes to finish the film and distribute it on DVD for fans and for viewing at festivals and other music venues.
