GEORGE M. GREEN, who wrote lyrics for several hit songs including “My Father’s Son” by Ricky Skaggs among others, died SUNDAY (8/28) in Albuquerque, NM, the Bloomington, IN Herald Times reports.
A native of Seymour, IN, Green was a classmate of singer John Mellencamp and lived in Bloomington for many years
Together, Green and Mellencamp composed "Hurt So Good," "Crumblin’ Down" and "Rain on the Scarecrow”" among many others. Green also wrote lyrics for songs recorded by Barbara Streisand, Vanessa Williiams, Hall & Oates and The Oak Ridge Boys.
Funeral arrangements are being made in Albuquerque. A memorial service in Bloomington is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
