The September 20th Lyrics for Lyric Benefit Show will be the tenth installment of the monthly benefit concert series at Roosters TX Style BBQ and Steakhouse, located at 123 12th Avenue North, Nashville, TN. 37203 and hosted by Mark Newton, IBMA Award winning Stylist/ Musician and one of today's most respected interpreters of bluegrass music.
Each month is jam packed with Nashville's best established talent in the Country, Bluegrass, Americana and Roots genres to benefit the Lyric Frizzell Foundation, named after two year old Lyric Alana Frizzell whom was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of Leukemia at 10 months old.

Jim Lauderdale, two time Grammy winner, is a multi-talented performer and songwriter, with successes in both country and bluegrass music. His roots stem from the Carolinas, yet his career has taken him all over the United States and abroad, making him an international recording artist with an ever-growing fan base. Jim won “Artist of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the first “Honors and Awards Show” held by the Americana Music Association in 2002. Subsequently, he has hosted this same show for the last seven years.

He is among Nashville’s “A” list of songwriters, with songs recorded by artists such as: Patty Loveless, George Jones, The Dixie Chicks, Solomon Burke, Mark Chesnutt, Dave Edmunds, John Mayall, Kathy Mattea, Lee Ann Womack, Gary Allan, Blake Shelton. Vince Gill, and George Strait. He also contributed several songs to the successful soundtrack of the George Strait film, “Pure Country.” Not content to just write hits for the stars, he’s toured with the likes of Lucinda Williams, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Rhonda Vincent and Elvis Costello, among others.

Jim’s musical influences include the legendary Dr. Ralph Stanley and George Jones. These influences and his unique sense of melody and lyric help forge a sound that is truly his own.

The Lyrics for Lyric show began as the brain child of Picks Nashville owner’s Wade and Tina Johnson in November of 2010 to raise money and offset costs incurred while the Frizzell family lived at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital during Lyric’s chemo treatment. The creative monocure, Lyrics for Lyric was the design of Tina. Starting in July of 2011 after the close of Picks Nashville the show was taken in a new direction by Co-Producer’s Corey Frizzell and Mark Newton with the intention of benefiting the childhood cancer research in the name of the Lyric Frizzell Foundation.

Past shows have featured such stars as Vince Gill, Jamie Johnson, Marty Raybon, Bo Bice, Ken Mellons, Chris Caskey, Carl Jackson, Trent Tomlinson, Claire Lynch, Cia Cheryholmes, Missy Raines, Larry Cordle, Jerry Salley, Michael Peterson, Whitney Duncan and Billy Yates John Austin McDaniel. As the show has grown, so has the talent level and sponsorship support from companies such as TKLCases, Double E Promotions, Rural Rhythm Records and Paige Capo.
