12-time GRAMMY® Award Winning Musician Jerry Douglas to Bring Holiday-themed Show “Jerry Christmas” to Historic Franklin Theatre to Raise Funds for Life-Saving Transplant!
12-time GRAMMY® award winning musician, Jerry Douglas, will ring in the holiday season with his show, “Jerry Christmas” and help to raise funds for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. “Jerry Christmas”, will be held in honor of Witt “Baby Witt” Deane, a Franklin-area child who had a Heart transplant last fall. The event is planned for Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Historic Franklin Theatre in downtown Franklin. 1 ½ -year-old Witt received a Heart transplant at Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. and range in price from $35 for Classic admission to $55 for Balcony admission to Caberet style tables being available for groups for $500 per table. This concert will be a wonderful way to start the holidays and give the true gift of the season by helping families facing the life changing decision of transplantation.
The evening will feature Douglas performing a rare holiday-themed show with proceeds to benefit the Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA – www.cota.org) Having spent the past several months of this year criss-crossing the country and globe with Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas on a successful tour in support of their latest album, Paper Airplane, Douglas will kick off the holiday season by treating the Franklin Theatre audience to an evening of material from his holiday album, Jerry Christmas! (E1 Music). Appearing with Douglas will be GRAMMY® Award-nominated vocalist/actress Maura O'Connell and an acclaimed band featuring Luke Bulla(violin), Matt Combs (violin), Todd Parks (bass), Todd Lombardo (guitar) and Guthrie Trapp (guitar).
The evening will also feature a video about Witt’s journey to heart transplantation as well as the families involvement with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association. On board for the video are narrator and family friend Buzz Brainard, the friendly voice of the Disney Channel and also known to sports fans as the host of “This Week In Baseball” on FOX and Robert Deaton, of Deaton/Flanigen and the Producer of CMA’s Music Fest and the CMA Awards Show, also a family friend. Together with Witt’s family, they will tell his story.
“The family and friends of Witt want to encourage everyone in the community to attend our upcoming evening with Jerry in an effort to give help defray some of the transplant costs for the Deane family as well as other families experiencing the world of organ transplantation for their children,” said Event PR Chair, Shari Lacy. “100% of the profits from the “Jerry Christmas” concert will assist with transplant-related expenses.”
Witt was diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis in 2010. The Deane family needs an estimated $70,000 to pay their transplant-related expenses.

Witt Deane’s family has asked for assistance from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity based in Bloomington, Indiana. COTA is dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. COTA’s services are completely free of charge and 100% of funds generated by COTA community fundraising campaigns are available for transplant-related expenses.
