The Roys Sing “The Star Spangled Banner” for 97,000 Fans!
We posted this story back at the end of September just before the big IBMA
World of Bluegrass Conference. Now some new information we did not know
at the time has surfaced.
The beginning of the video is the rehearsal …continue watching for the real deal.
You’ll also get a great surprise a Challenger* flies in toward the end of the song.
Rural Rhythm Records bluegrass duo The Roys performed the National Anthem at the Tennessee Titans /Denver Broncos game to a 97,000-plus crowd at LP Field
in Nashville.
It was a "Code Blue" game with Challenger the Bald Eagle making a special appearance. This was Lee and Elaine's first NFL performance of the Anthem. Previous performances include:
- …for President Bush at Andrews Air Force Base
- …for the Red Sox at Fenway Park
- …and during the NASCAR Truck Series at the Kansas Speedway
*ABOUT CHALLENGER
Challenger is a non-releasable Bald Eagle cared for by the non-profit American Eagle Foundation. Since 1991,
this majestic bird has been a free-flying educational ambassador for his recovering species in the wild. He was blown from his Louisiana nest in a storm at five weeks of age — was rescued and hand-raised by well-meaning people. As a result, he became human-imprinted for life.
