President and Mrs. Obama will host the event tonight, November 21, in celebration of Country music. Other performers include Lauren Alaina, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Darius Rucker and James Taylor.
The sixty-minute television special, part of the Emmy Award-nominated PBS “In Performance at the White House” series, will premiere Wednesday, November 23 at 8 PM ET on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings). The concert will also stream live tonight at 7 PM (EST) at www.whitehouse.gov/live.
One of the most respected artists in the new school of bluegrass, Hull has received 5 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) nominations in the past 3 years and is the first bluegrass musician to receive Berklee College of Music’s prestigious Presidential Scholarship. In March she released her 3rd album, Daybreak, on Rounder Records on which she penned 7 of the 12 songs.
