Believe it or not, we just got word that tickets are still available for this weekend’s Yonder Mountain “Kinfolk” Celebration at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado.
As apart of the special celebration with Yonder Mountain String Band and special musical guests, the band will also be extending a hand to their fellow Coloradoans in-need by hosting a silent auction to benefit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund. Kinfolk will have the opportunity to bid on archived posters and signed merchandise, tickets to upcoming events, and instruments & gear (!) from the band's vault.
"This is where our band was born. There's always been something special about the way people here interact with music."
– Ben Kaufmann (Yonder Mountain String Band)
Separate auctions will take place on both August 24 and 25, 2012. In order to enter the auctions, fans are asked to visit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund’s onsite booth during the festival.
It has been ten years since the inaugural Kinfolk Celebration danced and smiled its way across the Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Yonder Mountain String Band's annual celebration of community, camping, and musical mania is returning home to Lyons, CO. Each afternoon close musical kin of Yonder Mountain will create their own musical frenzy including Greensky Bluegrass, Todd Snider, Split Lip Rayfield, and Larry Keel & Natural Bridge. We will boogie, we will shine, we will share in something unforgettable. The hometown boys (Yonder Mountain) will headline the main stage each evening with inspired, epic sets (featuring special guest Andy Hall).
"The whole thing is to celebrate the family experience – our extended family," says Yonder’s Ben Kaufmann. In that spirit, the band will be playing a special all-request set from suggestions submitted online by fans.
For two glorious late-August days, “Kinfolk” will bask in the waning summer sun, cool their feet in the St. Vrain River, and take one final summery gasp of mountain air alongside four thousand other Kinfolk.
