The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame is very excited and anticipating a huge turn-out for the annual induction ceremonies into their Music Hall of Fame. In a personal note to Prescription Bluegrass, the organization’s spokesperson revealed that part of the excitement is due to the appearance of J.E. Mainer Jr. who will be performing for the occasion. Mainer’s father, J.E. Senior will be inducted along with several others on that night.
Mainer (Sr.) the older of the Mainer Brothers (J.E. and Wade) passed away in 1971 while brother Wade was with us until just recently passing on September 12, 2011. The Mainers came from a North Carolina mountain family that resided several miles from Asheville, eventually settling near the community of Weaverville.
Appearing as J.E.Mainer and his Crazy Mountaineers (J.E. on Fiddle, Brother Wade on Banjo and Zeke Morris on Guitar), Mainer made his debut on WBT Radio – Charlotte, NC in 1933.
The Mountaineers disbanded at the outbreak of World War II, but Mainer continued to record in the late 1940s, together with his sons, Glenn and Curly, for King Records. In the 1970s, after his death, literally hundreds of post-war recordings were released on Rural Rhythm Records.
The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame Museum inducts new musical artists into the Hall every year and honors them with a Ceremonial event. The new 2012 inductees will be honored on October 11, 2012. This is the organization's most exclusive event of the year where tickets holders will have a chance to meet and listen to these great music legends. The evening includes a meet-and-greet reception, dinner, and live performances by NC Music Hall of Fame inductees – past and present.
