The newest member of Wildfire, Chris Davis was formerly with Junior Sisk and Rambler’s Choice. He will also join Robert Hale in handling some of the lead vocal chores for the band.
The announcement of Chris’ addition to the band was made on Wildfire’s Facebook page.
The 33 year old Davis was born into a family of musicians. His Grandfather Elzie Davis played the fiddle, his Father Danny Lee Davis plays the banjo and sings and traveled with Ralph Stanley playing bass and singing harmony. His brother Wes Davis played the guitar and sang as well. The Davis’s created the “Davis Brothers Band” and began playing bluegrass music as a family.
Chris began playing mandolin and singing at age fifteen. He was influenced not only by family, but other famous bluegrass musicians and singers as well, such as Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe, Red Allen and Keith Whitley.
At the age of 18, Chris started traveling with The Bluegrass Strangers playing mandolin and singing harmony. After he gained some experience as a road musician, he went on to work with bands such as Honey Deaton & Dream, Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time, Larry Sparks, III Tyme Out and Alecia Nugent just to name a few.
