The legendary Larry Sparks & his Lonesome Ramblers will perform at the Cameo Theatre in Bristol, Virginia on Friday, October 25th.
Sparks is celebrating his 50th year in bluegrass music and this concert will be part of his 50th Anniversary Tour.
This concert is presented by the *Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA) and proceeds will benefit the ACMA’s Mountain Music Museum located at 626 State Street in Bristol, Tennessee.
Larry Sparks is among the most widely known and respected touring musicians in bluegrass and gospel music today. Larry began his career in the mid-1960”s as guitarist with the Stanley Brothers and later became lead vocalist for Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys.
Larry went on to form his own band in 1969 (the Lonesome Ramblers) He has recorded and toured with his band for over four decades, releasing over 60 albums and delighting countless fans with his soulful vocals and unparalleled musicianship.
Larry Sparks’ long list of hits includes: John Deere Tractor, A Face in the Crowd, Tennessee 1949, Blue Virginia Blues, I Just Want to Thank You Lord, Love of the Mountains, Goodbye Little Darlin, You Could Have Called, Tribute to Hank Williams, Green Pastures in the Sky and the list goes on. Larry has performed on such world famous venues as the Grand Ole Opry as well as Austin City Limits and Song of the Mountains, both of which can be seen on PBS.
Opening the concert for Larry Sparks will be the VW Boys with their variety show consisting of music, magic and comedy. Dave Vaught, Tim White & Fat Albert Blackburn will provide lots of fun and laughter to this wonderful night of music.
Tickets for the 7:30 pm concert are $ 18 advance and $ 20 at the door and available at Morrell Music on West State Street in Bristol, TN, at the ACMA Pickin Porch on Monday nights at 620 State Street’s Foundation Event Facility and at the door.
