Bluegrass singer songwriter Donna Ulisse and her band The Poor Mountain Boys will be making their first appearance at the legendary Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, Virginia on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 as they help ring in the new year.
The show begins at 8:00 p.m and has been listed in the CBS DC local news as one of the top New Year's Eve concerts in the Washington, D.C. area this year.
Headlining the show will be The Seldom Scene, considered to be one of the single largest contributors to the progression of bluegrass music from the early days of Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe to the more contemporary sounds that they founded.
Sharing the stage that evening will be the Pennsylvania folk/Americana trio The Stray Birds.
Donna and her band will be performing songs from her current release Showin' My Roots, a tribute to her musical heroes which she co-produced with Bryan Sutton.
The Birchmere is a concert hall in Alexandria, Virginia known for presenting performers in the bluegrass, country, folk and jazz genres. The main stage has table seating with dinner service. The room seats 500 people and the tables in front are about two feet from the stage.
