The Man Who Wrote "Christmas Time's A Comin'" Won't Be Comin' Home For Christmas This Year!

PRESCRIPTION BLUEGRASS IMAGE - Tex Logan"Christmas Time's A-Comin'
And I know I'm goin' home."

The song, first recorded by Bill Monroe in 1951 but later covered by countless scores of country, bluegrass, and pop artists was written by bluegrass fiddler Tex Logan.

Over the last several weeks, we've been posting updates from Tex's daughter Jody on his condition after an emergency trip to the hospital and then the subsequent transfer to a rehabilitation facility where he is undergoing physical therapy and medication monitoring.

Jody now writes that her dad is singing the tune a little differently....as in:

"CHRISTMAS TIME'S A COMING AND I WON'T BE COMIN' HOME....."

As it stands right now, his doctors plan a discharge for him to go home on December 26th if his progress continues as it has. Jody says she feels her father is "relieved since we all know that if you get ill on Dec 22nd (Friday) you are out of luck until the 26th. He feels better to be in a rehab facility until then."

She also says Tex is old-fashioned about sending out Christmas cards and still toils over writing individual cards each year. She says that she hopes friends and fans will remember Tex this year and hopes to get a thousand cards or more for him ..."it would cheer him up."
