John Cowan Returns to Bluegrass On New Phil Leadbetter Single!

PRESCRIPTION BLUEGRASS IMAGE - JOHN COWANMost bluegrass fans of any tenure were introduced to John Cowan as one of the early members of the American progressive bluegrass band, New Grass Revival in the beginnings of the seventies decade.

Since the breakup of the band in 1989, Cowan has bounced around the musical genre spectrum and in and out of bluegrass. But not often enough to suit many of his bluegrass fans.  Now Phil Leadbetter and Pinecastle Records are sliding him back into bluegrass as a guest on Phil's new single, "Ramblin' Rolling Stone."

Phil Leadbetter - The Next Move
"Ramblin Rollin' Stone" is the first single from the album and features Sam Bush and John Cowan. After a fight with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2011, a healthy Phil Leadbetter is back on the road and actively working on the follow up to the IBMA Instrumental Recording of the Year Slide Effects. The album, titled The Next Move, is shaping up to be an exciting collaboration with Phil’s friends including: Jerry Douglas, Rob Ickes, Mike Bub, Shawn Camp, Steve Wariner, Joe Diffie, Marty Raybon, Sierra Hull, Sam Bush, Kenny Smith, and many more. Leadbetter is currently touring with multiple IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year winner, Dale Ann Bradley as well as performing with his family band, The Leadbetters.

The Gentlemen of Bluegrass - "Carolina Memories"  is the title track from The Gentlemen of Bluegrass' Pinecastle debut. The Gentlemen of Bluegrass provide traditional bluegrass sound similar to bands like The Country Gentlemen and Seldom Scene. They have a highly energetic live show with many entertaining twists and turns. Pinecastle saw them live at a festival and based on the crowd’s response, knew the Gentlemen had something special. Their project, Carolina Memories is set for release on June 10th.
