The 2014 Monroe-Style Mandolin Camp with Mike Compton as director will be held September 4-7, 2014 at Camp Marymount, 1318 Fairview Blvd. in Nashville, TN.
In prior years the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, KY had hosted the only major camp dedicated solely to the mandolin styles of Bill Monroe.
The Museum wants to continue hosting mandolin camps but with a wider range of traditional and progressive bluegrass mandolin styles.
To fill the void created by the Museum's new direction, Mike Compton has organized a new event not associated with the Museum. Mike will be joined by instructors David Davis, Skip Gorman, John Keith and Mark Royal.
Joining the instructors on staff with be luthiers Paul Duff and Will Kimble. Also on site will be a camp store that will include vendors offering accessories, instruments and gear.
Details regarding camp registration, housing and fees will be available on the camp web site which is slated for launch March 8.
Camp Marymount is 28 miles from the Nashville Airport.
