New Flagstaff Business Model Gives Money To Artists For Local Art Projects!

FLAGSTAFF, AZ – Flagstaff Arts Council  today announced a new sustainable business model for Flagstaff called Cash for Local Change.

This program encourages patrons to use cash at participating businesses, preventing credit card fees from leaving the state. The money will then be granted to local artists with community projects.

Instead of sending 2-5% of credit card sales out of state, consumers are encouraged to plan ahead and use cash at these participating businesses. These businesses will then donate 1% of their cash sales to Flagstaff Arts Council where the money will be used to support local art projects.

Cash for Local Change businesses include the title sponsor Criollo Latin Kitchen, as well as Brandy's Restaurant & Bakery, Brix Restaurant, Simply Delicious Catering and Cafe Daily Fare, Full Circle Trade & Thrift, Incahoots Vintage Clothing & Costumes, Olives Wild, and Visible Difference.

“Cash for Local Change integrates what Flagstaff loves most about its community: support for locally owned businesses, keeping dollars local, and support for our rich and diverse arts scene,” said Flagstaff Arts Council Executive Director, John Tannous, “It’s easy for consumers, too. All you have to do is remember to bring cash, like remembering to bring your cloth bags to the grocery store.”

The grant program will allow individual artists, art businesses, and/or non-profit organizations to

apply for the funds raised through the Cash for Local Change program. Participating businesses will have the opportunity, if they choose, to sit in on grant application review and choose the projects they want funded.
