With the release of his second bluegrass CD in two years, former Front Range leader Bob Amos has shown that he is back in a big way.
Amos’s new CD, Sunrise Blues, contains 8 original songs, 2 original instrumentals, and 2 new versions of bluegrass classics.
In typical Bob Amos fashion the material is wide ranging, including hard driving instrumentals and songs, bluesy numbers, poignant ballads, and a cappella quartets.
In the liner notes to Sunrise Blues bluegrass DJ and Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival director Carl Goldstein writes:
“Bob Amos is a force of nature. He has a crystal clear powerful voice; he is a talented multi-instrumentalist; and he is a universally acclaimed songwriter…Bob channels all his influences through his ample talents resulting in an album full of gorgeous melodies, tight arrangements, compelling harmonies and vivid story lines. There is something exceptional going on here…”
Musical contributors to the new CD include members of Amos’s current band, Bob Amos & Catamount Crossing, featuring Bob's daughter Sarah Amos on vocals, former Front Range bassist Bob Dick, other band members Freeman Corey, Chris Cruger, Steve Wright and Gary Darling, plus special guest Jesse Brock who plays on mandolin on select cuts. Amos handles the banjo and guitar chores throughout the album, and also plays mandolin on a few numbers.
Amos’s previous CD, Borrowed Time, received wide acclaim including a highlight review from Bluegrass Unlimited magazine and an inclusion in the Prescription Bluegrass BEST OF 2012 List
