East Tennessee State University's Bluegrass Old Tme and Country Music Studies has announced the acquisition of 11-time IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year, Adam Steffey.
Steffey has been associated with the University since the mid-1980s in various rolls. He'll now be a full time lecturer and designing curriculum that will address music business issues specific to bluegrass.
"Through my own experiences, as well as by conducting in-class interviews with other professional musicians and industry leaders, I plan to give students a real-world look at making music their vocation," says Steffey. "By giving our students a broad look into the business side of music, they will become better equipped for a future in music."
Steffey has spent time as a member of bands such as Alison Krauss & Union Station, Mountain Heart, Lonesome River Band, The Dan Tyminski Band, and the Isaacs. He is currently a member of The Boxcars. He has also performed with such artists as Kenny Chesney, Clint Black, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, The Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, Rhonda Vincent, Ronnie Bowman, Jim Mills, and others.
He completed his Bachelor of Science at ETSU in 2014. Adam is a 5 time Grammy award winner who also teaches mandolin lessons via SKYPE online.
