Image635740072862799586The music community lost another Country Music giant this week when Grammy-Winner, Lynn Anderson passed away on Thursday, July 30th.

With 12 charted number one hits, eighteen in the top 10 and more than 50 Top-40 hits, Anderson had an impact that was profound.   (She was named Billboard's Female Artist of the Decade from 1970–1980.)

One, upon whom she had a great influence, was Bluegrass Music's Brooke Aldridge (of Darin & Brooke Aldridge).

“I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of Lynn Anderson. She was a singer I admired all of my life for her power and emotion. Darin and I were thrilled to be a part of the CMA Music Festival in Nashville last month, and among the highlights was meeting and chatting with Miss Anderson. Just watching her interact with fans was a lesson in itself, but talking with her and having her be so kind and interested in our music and career was uplifting. She was incredibly sweet and gracious; a true star worthy of her status as an iconic legend.”

A statement from the family said Anderson  passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday. Her publicist said the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

In 2004 Anderson released THE BLUEGRASS SESSIONS - containing versions of some of her biggest hits.   The album was very well accepted by the public and critics, earning her  a Grammy Award nomination in 2005 for "Best Bluegrass Album", her first Grammy Award nomination in over 30 years.
