The
IBMA World of Bluegrass Songwriter Showcase is a coveted opportunity.
Ten selected songwriters (or songwriting teams) are given the rare and
valuable opportunity to perform one original bluegrass song to the best
bluegrass artists and producers in the industry.
While the standards
will always remain central to the genre, its growth and development is
ensured by the creative output of great songwriters!
This year’s
Songwriter Showcase will take place on Thursday, September 29 during
World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Process
As
noted above, up to ten songwriters or songwriting teams will be invited
to showcase in 2016. Songs are chosen through a juried selection
process that takes into consideration the applicant’s quality of work
and appeal to bluegrass audiences. Applicant MUST be willing to perform the song live. Applicant does NOT have to be an IBMA member. In addition to general applicant information, the following is needed to complete the application:
- Name, email address, a high-resolution photo and bio of each songwriter credited on the song
- One demo recording of the song (mp3 format only)
- Lyrics for the song (PDF only)
Application Deadlines & Fees
Online application for the IBMA songwriter showcase must be submitted by MARCH 31, 2016.
If selected, applicant is required to register for the World of
Bluegrass IBMA Business Conference in order to participate. The
conference takes place September 27-29, 2016, at the Raleigh Convention
Center.
