The still-unfolding saga of Hurricane Harvey’s devastating blows to coastal Texas and beyond has greatly saddened the staff and board of Old Settler’s Music Festival.
Like many others, the festival is helping with disaster relief efforts by donating $5,000.
Half of the donation is going to the Central Texas Food Bank; Caldwell County Emergency Services will help determine how to distribute the other half.
Old Settler’s is making its new home just east of Lockhart in Caldwell County, which is among dozens of Texas counties declared disaster areas by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Old Settler’s Music Festival, a registered nonprofit, is dedicated to supporting the local community. The donation to Central Texas Food Bank will fund 125 disaster relief kits and will provide up to 3,750 non-perishable meals for displaced residents, rescuers and others involved in disaster management.
Old Settler’s is consulting with Caldwell County Emergency Services in an effort to direct the remaining $2,500 as effectively as possible.
In its 30 years as one of the most popular live music festivals in the state, Old Settler’s has donated thousands of dollars to scholarships and nonprofit programs. It’s the festival’s way of giving back to communities and spreading the festival’s friendly, music-loving vibe as far and wide as possible. Old Settler’s is looking forward to establishing permanent roots in its new home and welcoming music fans to the Lockhart area April 19-22, 2018.
