Just in time for World Fiddle Day (May 18th, 2013), bluegrass fiddlers have more reason to rejoice. Rural Rhythm has just released, “Curly Fox – Champion Fiddler Volume One” as one of a pair of digital downloads.
The other rare Rural Rhythm tracks from the archive available beginning this month belong to Red Smiley and the Bluegrass Cutups.
Both Discs are available to the public for digital download via all sources such as iTunes, Amazon and Google Play and to radio broadcasters via Airplay Direct.
For broadcasters, Rural Rhythm has even provided the original liner notes reprinted as they appeared on the back cover of the original album jacket.

The world of entertainment, with its colorful personalities and unpredictable ways, has in it the stuff that makes for greatness. One Such great champion fiddler and master showman – is CURLY FOX, one of the great performing talents of the era. | This recording is the first of three LPs that Red and his Bluegrass Cut-Ups made for Rural Rhythm in the years immediately after the split. After his TV show was cancelled in March 1968, Red retired briefly before signing on with Don Reno and Bill Harrell in 1970. They performed and recorded together, and were in the middle of a tour when Red began suffering mild heart-attacks in 1971. Later that year, he was taken ill during a flu epidemic, and died on January 2, 1972, at the age of 47. |
