On September 10, 2013, bluegrass band The Rigneys will release their debut album, Double or Nothing, on Dark Shadow Records, the brand new label started by Sam Bush Band guitarist/vocalist, Stephen Mougin.
The album showcases the talents of multi-award winning instrumentalists and brothers, Andrew and Grant Rigney, along with their parents, Mark and Melissa.
It is the fifth album overall for the Nashville-based quartet, and is produced and recorded by Mougin, as well, at his Dark Shadow recording studio. A CD release event is being planned during the IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC, later this year.
The first single off of Double or Nothing will be the title track, an up-tempo original penned by Andrew Rigney and Stephen Mougin. It will be available for radio download later this month.
In addition to co-writer on several other tracks on the album, Andrew plays acoustic guitar and handles most of the lead vocals. His numerous awards most notably include 2nd place at the Merlefest Guitar Championship.
Grant handles fiddle, mandolin, and harmony vocals, and is the reining Alabama State Fiddle Champion and Tennessee State Junior Fiddle Champion.
Mark drives the band on banjo, also providing some lead and harmony vocals, and Melissa keeps them all together on upright bass.
