For those looking to show their love of bluegrass music in connection with the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass event in Raleigh, NC, September 24-28, the answer is simple: practice random acts of bluegrass, document it, and share it with the world.
Then, maybe brag about it a little with a specially-created sticker.
During September, Worldwide Bluegrass Music Month, IBMA has introduced the “Practice Random Acts of Bluegrass” campaign.

The campaign is designed to encourage bluegrass fans across the globe to use social media – specifically IBMA’s Facebook page and also BluegrassNation.org – to share the many creative ways they’re celebrating their love of bluegrass music.

“Most of us get involved with bluegrass music not only because it’s played by some of the most talented, soulful musicians on the planet, but because it connects us with a worldwide community, a bluegrass family,” said Nancy Cardwell, IBMA’s Executive Director. “Bluegrass is powerful and uplifting, and we have scores of friends to hang out with at various events and online while enjoying the music and discussing it endlessly. Bluegrass makes my life a better place to be, and by practicing ‘random acts of bluegrass’—picking a bit in unexpected places, wherever you live—we can all celebrate September as Worldwide Bluegrass Music  Month in a fun, grassroots sort of way.”

IBMA is encouraging bluegrass lovers around the world to take photos, shoot video, and share those efforts on their Facebook page and Bluegrassnation.org. “Help us wave the banner for bluegrass music this month and introduce it to some new fans,” Cardwell said. “Then we’ll all get together for the World of Bluegrass event in Raleigh Sept. 24-28 to wrap up our month of random acts with a huge, five-day celebration!”

Specially created “Practice Random Acts of Bluegrass” stickers, in limited supply, will be available for sale in Raleigh during the World of Bluegrass event. Priced at two dollars, fans can purchase the stickers at the merchandise stand near the registration booth at the Raleigh Convention Center, and also at the merchandise stand at the Red Hat Amphitheater during the Wide Open Bluegrass festival, Sept 27-28. Any remaining “Practice Random Acts of Bluegrass” stickers will be sold online at www.ibma.org after the World of Bluegrass event.

IBMA’s annual World of Bluegrass event is bluegrass music’s annual industry gathering and family reunion. Held for the first time in Raleigh, North Carolina, World of Bluegrass runs from September 24-28. World of Bluegrass 2013 consists of three main parts: the IBMA Business Conference, which runs Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26, the International Bluegrass Music Awards on Thursday, Sept. 26m and the music festival –Wide Open Bluegrass – which takes place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28.
