Prescription Bluegrass has been in touch with Matt Scarbrough, mandolin player for Laurel River Line, who provided more information about the death of the group’s Dobro player, Doug Davidson.
Doug had joined the band earlier this year and became ill over the summer. A few weeks ago he spent some time in the hospital for that illness at which time his doctors diagnosed him with pancreatic cancer.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lakes Funeral Home in McKee, KY. Visitation and services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October, 25th, 2013 with interment at Baldwin Family Cemetery in Gray Hawk, KY.
Matt said of his friend and fellow bandmate, “He was a true man of God” He also relayed that Doug had never played the Dobro and joined the band as a guitar player but after deciding that what the band really needed was dobro he picked it up and came back like he’d always been playing it.
