Tragedy Takes Life of Venue Operator James Drake

Drake was the owner/operator of The Gospel Tabernacle in Carlton, where he held monthly gospel singings and bluegrass musical performances.

A tragic fire that investigators believe started in the bedroom of the landmark house claimed his life as he was attempting to fight the blaze.

He loved music, especially Bluegrass Gospel, and played with several music groups over his 67 years in music. He still traveled to many festivals and played his guitar and sang until his passing.

The family  received friends today, Tuesday, October 29th, and a memorial service will be held tomorrow Wednesday, October 30, 11:00 am at the Lord and Stephens Danielsville Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carlton Volunteer Fire Department.
