World Class Bluegrass Gibson Brothers on Prairie Home Companion This Weekend!

Gibson Brothers (Photo by Joan Harrison Photography)This week, Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion Radio show will host, for the very first time, the two-time IBMA Entertainers of the Year, The Gibson Brothers.

Eric Gibson told Prescription Bluegrass that the brothers have been fans of the long-running radio show for some time.  "We are so proud and excited to be playing A Prairie Home Companion, an American institution, for the first time," said Gibson.

The brothers' inaugural PHC broadcast just happens to be during the same week as the annual IBMA Awards.

Also on the  show will be feel-good folksinger Ellis and the Royal Academy of Radio Actors.

The show will be broadcast from it's home base, the Fitzgerald Theatre in Saint Paul, MN on October 4th.

Listeners with  local radio affiliates should check with their stations for actual broadcast times.  Others can listen online Saturday, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. (Central Time).

Visit www.prairiehome.org to listen to a live audio Web stream of the show. You can hear a rebroadcast of the live stream on Sunday, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (CT).

The rebroadcast on Sunday can also be heard on Sirius satellite radio.  For a complete list of stations by state, .

The Gibson Brothers are the current, and two-time successive, Entertainers of the Year from the IBMA.  They are also nominated once again this year and stand a good chance of performing on A Prairie Home Companion Saturday night with Garrison Keillor as Entertainers of the Year for the third consecutive year.   It's no wonder their excitement level is pegging the meter!

However, the Gibsons would not be the first to achieve such distinction.  The Del McCoury Band won the title five years in a row (1996-2000) and three more times consecutively from 2002-2004.   Dailey and Vincent also held the title for three consecutive years from 2008 through 2010.
