After months of anticipation and highly-praised pre-release performances at FOLK Alliance International and SXSW, The HillBenders are ready to celebrate the release of TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry with this month's CD Release Tour.
The Midwest tour kicks off this Friday, May 8th at Knucklehead's Saloon in Kansas City, with stops in The HillBenders' hometown of Springfield, MO, and at the legendary Station Inn in Nashville, TN, on May 10th.
These three shows will feature a full live performance of TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry followed by other HillBenders favorites. The tour continues next weekend with classic HillBender performances at Down Home Guitars in Frankfort, IL, and the BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival in St. Joseph, MI.
And in case you're wondering, TOMMY: A Bluegrass Opry is exactly what it sounds like - a bluegrass rendition of The Who's iconic rock opera, HillBender-style.
Rolling Stone magazine called their performance one of the "50 Best Things We Saw at SXSW 2015", saying:
"The HillBenders, a talented five-piece band from Missouri, proved to be the perfect group to execute this 'Whograss' concept."
While the album won't be officially released until June 2nd, copies will be available for sale (and band autographs) at The HillBenders' live performances on this tour. If you can't make it to a show and would like to pre-order your copy, visit one of the links below:
