Session II is available today!
Sideline, featuring Steve Dilling on banjo, Jason Moore on bass, Skip Cherryholmes on guitar,Brian Aldridge on mandolin and Daniel Aldridge on fiddle, came out of the gate in full swing just over two years ago.
The band's first album, Sideline - Session I, was received overwhelmingly well with plenty of chart success and even garnered the band an IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year nomination in 2014.
At the time, Dilling was the 20-year-long banjo player for Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Jason Moore was the bass player for Mountain Heart, and Skip Cherryholmes had just come off his two year break from a grueling touring schedule as part of his family's band, Cherryholmes, to join Lou Reid & Carolina.
Quickly realizing that this band had something more to offer than just a handful of shows during the off season of their regular gigs, the three men decided to hit the road full-time, leaving their current employers. Sideline forged ahead, adding the Aldridge brothers, all the while, the core members were in the studio working on their next project, Sideline - Session II, with guests Ron Stewart on fiddle and Aaron Ramsey on mandolin.
With, Session II, Sideline is most assuredly placing their emphasis on tradition and keeping their band's music between the bluegrass lines. With plenty of hard-driving banjo, trio harmony and an a cappella gospel song featuring a strong quartet, Session II proves that even though the band has gone through a couple of early personnel changes, the band's focus and music is as strong as ever. In fact, the album's first single, "Mountain Girl," is already climbing the charts and is currently sitting at #16 on Bluegrass Today's Top 20 Songs for June.
