As summer draws to a close and kids return to school, Tammy Jones Robinette's single release, "To Be a Kid Again," couldn't be more fitting or well-timed.
Written by Robinette, the song is a celebratory, yet wistful remembrance of carefree, seemingly-endless summer play days as a young girl growing up in Kentucky.

| The timely track, produced by Mark Fain (versatile bass player and longtime band member of Ricky Skaggs' Kentucky Thunder), features Tammy's refreshing and resonant alto voice, backed by a host of world-class musicians (Sam Bush-mandolin; Rob Ickes-dobro; Aubrey Haynie-fiddle; Seth Taylor-guitar; and Fain-bass) and supported by Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley on harmony vocals. "To be a Kid Again" is the debut single to her upcoming album, Tammy Jones Robinette & The Drive, due out later this fall on Rural Rhythm Records. "To Be a Kid Again” hits airwaves today and will be included on Rural Rhythm's FRESH CUTS & KEY TRACKS Radio CD going out to D.J.'s this week. |
Despite having already built an incredibly successful career as a top Southern Gospel artist and songwriter (last year, she celebrated two back to back #1s and was named "Favorite Female Vocalist" at the 2015 Gospel Music Fan Awards), the upcoming album is the second Bluegrass project for Tammy and a return to the music of her childhood.
Raised in the heart of the Bible and Bluegrass belt, Tammy's love for Bluegrass was nurtured right along with her faith. Her father played mandolin and was a huge Bluegrass fan. During her formative years, her home was filled with the music of artists like Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs and Jim & Jesse, which had a huge influence on her music.
"Revisiting my love for Bluegrass is something I felt compelled to do," explains Robinette. "Bluegrass has always been a big part of who I am," she continues. "My hope is that by stepping outside of my comfort zone in Southern Gospel and cultivating my Bluegrass roots, I will bring a whole new audience to the genre I grew up with and love."

Let it Shine, Robinette's first Bluegrass project, was warmly embraced by both Bluegrass and Gospel critics, earning three entries for consideration in the initial nomination process by the IBMA.
