Committee Established To Remember Dixie Hall !

The “Remembering Miss Dixie” committee has been established to oversee plans and programs created in memory of Miss Dixie Hall, the accomplished bluegrass songwriter and philanthropist who passed away January 16, 2015.

Miss Dixie left funds available and named the committee to assist organizations who are helping young musicians pursue their Bluegrass dreams.

Nancy Cardwell, Annette Kelley and Melissa Lawrence Buck, friends who worked with Miss Dixie in the past, have been chosen for the committee. News about events planned to honor Miss Dixie’s contributions to the bluegrass world and beyond will be announced in upcoming months.

As per her request, items from Miss Dixie’s estate have been donated to the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, Virginia, for display in the Carter Family Museum at AP’s Store.

Events are also being organized to honor Miss Dixie in conjunction with the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee and the International Bluegrass Music Museum, in Owensboro, Kentucky.  Additional details will be announced later this fall.

During her tenure as founder and manager of the Good Home Grown Music publishing company and Blue Circle Records, Miss Dixie wrote or co-wrote more than 400 bluegrass songs. Artists interested in recording her songs may contact the Harry Fox Agency.

A hearty congratulations from the team at Fox Hollow to our friends in the Big Country Bluegrass Band, who had a #1 song on the Bluegrass Today Monthly Airplay Chart September 1 with “The Bluefield West Virginia Blues,” composed by Dixie Hall with Tom T. Hall and Troy Engle.

“Miss Dixie was immensely successful at everything she tried—whether it was trick horseback riding, showing prize-winning Bassett Hounds, raising a million dollars for the Animaland rescue shelter, or her many efforts in the country and bluegrass music worlds,” Cardwell said. “The Remembering Miss Dixie Committee is working to honor her memory by telling her story, and by supporting programs and entities that honor Bluegrass.”

Donations will not be requested nor accepted for this fund.
