The Grascals Are In The Running
For 10 SPBGMA Awards, Including
Song of the Year, Album of the Year &
Entertaining Group of the Year
Winners To Be Announced During 28th National Convention, February 3 - 6, 2011
Nashville, TN (December 17, 2010) -- The reigning 2010 SPBGMA Bluegrass Band of the Year, The Grascals, are in the running for 10 of the 37th Annual SPBGMA Awards, including Song of the Year ("Last Train To Clarksville"), Album of the Year (THE FAMOUS LEFTY FLYNN'S) and Entertaining Group of the Year. Additionally, The Grascals (www.grascals.com) have been nominated for Instrumental Group of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year. Individual band member nominations include: Jamie Johnson (Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year); Danny Roberts (Mandolin Performer of the Year); Terry Eldredge (Male Vocalist of the Year, Traditional) and Kristin Scott Benson (Banjo Performer of the Year). Winners will be announced during the 28th National Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America Convention, February 3 - 6, to be held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. "It's been a pivotal year for us," says band co-founder, Jamie Johnson. "We played over 150 shows, made two trips overseas, headlined some great Fairs and Festivals stateside, and enjoyed several dates on Hank Williams, Jr.'s Rowdy Friends Tour." The band also made numerous television and radio appearances, formed their own record label, BluGrascal Records, and contributed to recent albums by Hank Williams, Jr., Tanya Tucker, Joe Diffie, Charlie Daniels, Bill Anderson and Cletus T. Judd.
Johnson sums up 2010 perfectly, saying, "We are continually blessed." As for 2011, these hot pickers are kicking it off with a bang.
