In tribute to the late Charlie Louvin, who passed on last Wednesday on after a long battle with cancer, the popular radio program Prescription Bluegrass will feature songs written by and performed by the Louvin Brothers.
The influence the popular brother duo of the 1940's and 1950s had over other musicians is evident in the abundance of "cover songs" by other well known artists. Even contemporaries of the Louvins like the McReynolds Brothers - Jim and Jesse, recorded hits written by Charlie and Ira Louvin. From the pop sound of the Everly Brothers, to the hard-rock 60's group, The Byrds; to Country music Sweetheart, Emmylou Harris; the Louvin Brothers have an inpact upon millions of fans both directly and indirectly.
