Della Mae adds Celia Woodsmith to the All-Girl Bluegrass Band!

Della Mae is a group to watch! Keep your eyes and ears on them. They're going someplace ....and soon. Their newest member, Celia Woodsmith plays her voice like a Stradivarius at times and like Satchmo's trumpet other times...and with full control switching between the two.      -Brian McNeal  Prescription Bluegrass
Della Mae features the reigning National Fiddle Champion Kimber Ludiker, impeccable mandolinist Jenni Lyn Gardner, seasoned bassist Amanda Jean Kowalski, and the driving banjo of Grace Van't Hof.   Soulful singer and guitarist Celia Woodsmith formerly with Avi & Celia is the newest member, joining the others in January this year.  Della Mae brings acoustic grit and twang to town with no apologies... and taking no prisoners.   Music that tells a story while delivering a punch. With energetic live performances and award-winning instrumental abilities, the five women of Della Mae are turning heads, winning hearts and minds.

From songs that explore independence and urban adventure to timeless themes of love and loss, Della Mae brings acoustic grit and twang with a "Sexy Roots Swagger" to town with no apologies.  Lead singer and guitarist Celia has a stage manner and vocal ability very reminiscent of Janis Joplin which adds a new dimension to Della Mae.

Formed during Fall of 2009 in Boston, Della Mae was born from a yearning for a traditional bluegrass sound in the heart of New England. Della Mae strives to create music that tells a story while delivering a punch.

Della Mae’s musical style seamlessly blends years of experience with traditional mountain music and modern singer-songwriter sensibilities. With energetic live performances and award-winning instrumental abilities, the five women of Della Mae are turning heads, winning hearts and minds... and taking no prisoners.
