Howdy, friends and neighbors!
We of VSLP (Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike) are taking it easy today after a wild and woolly weekend at the Sabal Palms RV Resort in Palmdale, FL. We performed Fri. & Sat. at their 3rd Annual Sabal Palms Old Country & Bluegrass Festival. Friday night the pavilion was full. Saturday night, it was overflowing. And all the camping spots were maxed out. (Always great to watch a festival growing!)
The James King band was here as well. King's banjo man Owen Piatt got up to help us out with a few songs from our brand new record, Blame It On The Bluegrass, and Bobby Davis, formerly of VSLP and now King's bass player, joined us to fiddle "Angelina Baker" on the Saturday night show. Of course, we were all excited about the big Tater Hill reunion show. (Roger Bass was tugging on everybody's heart-strings with those old Hank numbers.) There was also great music from Pure & Simple, Up A Creek, Tomorrow's News, Generations and many more.
Great crowd for the gospel sing Sunday morning. I was there, but dragging as I'd stayed up way too late jamming the night before.
James took a second to talk with me for our Bluegrass Crossroads Show on WMSR Thunder Radio, 1320 AM in Manchester, Tenn., and online at http://www.thunder1320.com.

As soon as the laundry is done, we're heading out for St. Augustine, where we'll be performing at the 30th Annual Seafood Festival this coming weekend. (I can't wait to see Lonesome Bert and the Lizards again!) We're also going to be doing some filming for a music video while we're in our country's oldest town. Stay tuned tohttp://www.valeriesmithonline.com for more information on that!
