Relay For Life - Fights Cancer!

In light of Phil Leadbetter's recent announcement about the diagnosis of his cancer, we thought we'd spotlight a way that we all can do something to help fight back.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life is an international movement to end cancer. Events happen in communities all over this country and around the world.  Click on the link below to find an event near you or watch the video below and find out how you can start your own Relay For Life.

Relay For Life is a grass-roots movement conducted not simply to raise funds, but to involve new communities, give the Society a local presence, and provide communities the opportunity to own the mission.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

What Happens at Relay For Life events?
Although every Relay For Life is different, there are certain traditions at all Relays, no matter where they are held. These traditions help participants celebrate, remember, and fight back.

At some events, the organizers feature stage entertainment and we've seen bluegrass bands performing. At others, groups set up tents on a football field while participants walk around the track and their team mates get some rest and relaxation.   Why not hold a bluegrass jam with some of your team and others when you're not walking in the relay?

Walk for Phil, or  anyone you know who is battling any type of cancer or walk to celebrate someone who is a survivor or to remember and celebrate the life of one who was lost.
