If you're looking for something different for Mom on Mother's day, here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Find a Bluegrass Festival near you and take Mom out for the day.  We've compiled a short list of festivals around the country but there are bound to be more.  Spend 10 minutes looking online.  Mom's worth it.
2. "Mama's Hand: Bluegrass and Mountain Songs About Mother" is a CD you can purchase on line or at most retail stores.  Get the hard copy or download MP3 files and make your own radio show dedicated to Mom!

A perfect gift for Mom is a trip to Calico Ghost Town for their annual Bluegrass in the Spring Music Festival. Attendees will experience the Old West with gunfight demonstrations in the street and a Mother's Day champagne brunch with gifts for the first 100 mothers attending. Families from Fort Benning, GA and the surrounding areas can take advantage of Salute to the South, a free festival at Uchee Creek Army Campground and Marina slated for Mother's Day Weekend.  Leading the pack of musicians performing is Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, a Grammy-nominated singer who has a modern take on bluegrass. Dogs are welcome, and the event is free to military families as well as civilian attendants

Here’s a way to celebrate Mother’s Day for all ages and tastes. The Spinney Brothers perform a Bluegrass concert at 2 p.m., followed by a family barbeque at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 at the Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High St., Newburyport, MA  In order for mothers to enjoy the concert, babysitting will be available.
