Bluegrass Academy Goes LIVE Today!

World's First Online Bluegrass Academy Goes Live

ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass is now live and accepting students. Just click HERE to check it out and sign up.

Bluegrass, roots and country musicians from Nashville to Melbourne will now be able to deepen their knowledge of banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar and upright bass online from a roster of award-winning Bluegrass luminaries with today's launch of the ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass.
Unlike other video-based sites and DVDs, this innovative online music academy gives students the opportunity to send their teacher a recorded video of themselves practicing and receive personal feedback and individualized instruction in the form of a video response. These videos are then paired and posted in the online Academy's 'Video Exchange™' library, available to all enrolled students.

The ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass consists of five schools: the School of Banjo with Tony Trischka, School of Mandolin with Mike Marshall, School of Fiddle with Darol Anger, School of Guitar with Bryan Sutton and School of Bass with Missy Raines.

How Does It Work?
Each instrument site will be stand alone, so only paying students of that instrument will be on each site and able to view lessons and video exchanges. So don't worry, you won't be inundated with non-banjo students. However, we will have a new feature called the "AOB HUB" that functions much like "Home" here at TTSB, where students of all the instruments are able to socialize if they like. You can go to the HUB when you feel like it to make new friends, or you can stay right on TTSB if the other instruments aren't of interest to you.

As part of the transition to the new AOB site, TTSB has been updated with a new look! Though your studies at TTSB will remain the same, you will have access to the students of all the instruments in the bluegrass ensemble by using familiar social features like Chat, Forums, Student Page comments and the Shout Box.

The bluegrass community is a strong one and we hope you share our excitement at having a central place for musicians around the world to meet and share their love of this great music. So why not head along and check out all the action at

The ArtistWorks Academy of Bluegrass offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced players the most comprehensive Bluegrass curriculum in the world, as well as a full slate of interactive social features. Hundreds of instructional video lessons teach students everything from tuning their instruments, chords, scales and arpeggios to improvisation, bowing and picking techniques, and lots of great Bluegrass tunes. For maximum progress, students receive individualized feedback from their teachers via the ArtistWorks Video Exchange™ system. And students from all the Schools can meet and socialize at Academy of Bluegrass Hub.

Commenting on the launch of the Academy, ArtistWorks CEO David Butler said:
"We set a high standard for bluegrass education in 2009 with opening the Tony Trischka School of Banjo. Extending this online learning concept to four more traditional instruments will play a powerful role in perpetuating this great American music tradition."
ArtistWorks Inc. is the leading online platform for music education and was one of the first companies to take advantage of the rise of the iPad and tablet devices by making it possible for users to take and make their music lessons anywhere from an airport lounge to their couch at home. The success of ArtistWorks is part of a wider growth trend in e-learning which is estimated to be worth $49.6billion by 2014, with Asia in particular growing at an annual rate of 33.5%*.
