Catching Up With Former Seldom Scene Member Phil Rosenthal!

Phil writes:
Hi Everyone,

I've got some interesting shows coming up. This Friday, July 15th, I play at Middlesex Community College, Middletown, CT, before the play "Shakespeare's Argument", presented by ARTFARM. My music will start at 6, and the play at 7. It's outdoors, weather permitting.

... Shakespeare, Ice Cream, Puppet Shows, Connecticut River and Phil Rosenthal's Bluegrass, who could ask for more? ...
My son Daniel and I had a good time playing before last year's production. Here's their description of the play:

Eighty percent Shakespeare, twenty percent Argument as a Producer, a Professor, an Actor and a Groundling debate what makes Shakespeare so great. Along the way new light is shed on A Midsummer Night's Dream, Henry V, Romeo & Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, Measure for Measure, Macbeth and much more. Some of you may even get the chance to be onstage performing in Julius Caesar, and the play culminates in a riveting swordfight between Hamlet and Laertes created by our combat master David Chandler.
It's pay if you can, Middlesex Community College, 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown, CT.

Tuesday, July 19th, my bluegrass trio will give a free concert on the South Green, Middletown, CT, 7 to 8:30 p.m. The group includes Phil Zimmerman on mandolin and banjo, me on guitar and mandola, and my wife, Beth, on bass fiddle. The South Green is at the south end of Main Street, across from the YMCA. If the weather is bad it will be across the street in the South Church sanctuary.

Thursday, July 21st, 5:30 to 7:30, I'll be playing solo at the Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street, Essex, CT, as part of their "Thursdays at the Dock" summertime series. Music, cash bar and snacks, all on their beautiful deck overlooking the Connecticut River, plus access to the Museum's first floor galleries and gift shop - all for $5. For more information, go to www.ctrivermuseum.org or call 860-767-8269. I enjoyed playing there last summer, and look forward to doing it again. Hope you can come.

Wednesday, July 27th, Phil Zimmerman and I play as a duo at the Mark Twain House and Museum, 351 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT, at their Ice Cream Social. It's free, includes complimentary ice cream, and runs from 5 to 7. We'll start the music around 5:30. There will also be activities for children, including a puppet show.

Hope you can come to one or more of these!

take care,
Phil Rosenthal
