From Johnson Mountain Boys to Broadcaster Extraordinaire!

Eddie Stubbs Celebrates 15 Years On-The-Air!
..."When they know that you rode those roads, all-night drives and five guys in the van, all sleeping in the same hotel room ... you're blessed to be a part of that fraternity," he says. "People look at you differently when they know that you've done that, because it's not an easy way to go."..
You’ve seen him at the microphone introducing Marty Stuart on the Marty Stuart Television Show on RFD-TV.  You’ve seen him announce the stars on the Opry and long-time bluegrass fans can remember when he put the bow to the stings as a member of the ground-breaking Johnson Mountain Boys bluegrass band, but Eddie Stubbs is a broadcaster’s broadcaster.

Recently celebrating 15 years on the air with WSM Nashville where he’s been holding down the evening time slot, Stubbs, is the longest running air-personality to hold that position on WSM and is among only a few evening DJ’s who have that kind of tenure.

Newcomers who may only know Stubbs as the announcer on the Marty Stuart show are often in shock when he occasionally steps out from behind the announcer’s mic and carries a fiddle and bow over to which ever guest is appearing on the show and begins to play along.

His mannerism and stage presence are so un-assuming that folks often thing he’s a beginning fiddler too shy to really jump in.  Nothing could be farther from true.

The Nashville Scene recently did a lengthy article on Stubbs and his Broadcast Career in which they say; “Stubbs' fiddle mostly stays in its case these days, but his picking years make a difference to everything from the savvy pacing of his shows to the understanding he shares with old and new acts who come by the WSM studios for hours-long interviews.

Stubbs is the 2002 recipient of the Country Music Association's Large Market Broadcast Personality Of The Year award.
