Bluegrass is Bloomin’ in the Fall Desert Air!

Tucson’s 12th Annual Desert Bluegrass Festival

Image634546184912834603The Desert Bluegrass Association presents their 12th Annual Desert Bluegrass Festival in Tucson, AZ on October 28, 29 & 30, 2011. The festival is being hosted by Sol Casinos in their beautiful AVA Amphitheater.
 
The DBA’s festival will feature performances on Saturday and Sunday by Blue Highway, the Kickin Grass Band, Steve Smith & Hard Road and our last year’s band contest winner Whistle Stop. Also appearing on Saturday only are Copper River, Titan Valley Warheads, Crucial County and the Jam Pak Neighborhood Blues “N” Grass Band. Appearing on Sunday only are the Dusty River Boys, Manzanita Bluegrass and the Rincon Mountain Boys. All performances are staged in the shaded, outdoor AVA Amphitheater.

On Friday evening (7pm - 9 pm) enjoy the Desert Bluegrass Association’s featured band contest. Up to 10 bands will compete for $1,000 in prize money and the opportunity to perform during the festival.
 
Workshops will help pickers hone their skills; vendors will offer food, crafts and music for sale.
 
A section of parking area adjacent to the amphitheater will be reserved for camping and jamming - so bring your instrument and join us.
            
Admission to Friday’s band contest is free. Performances on Saturday run from 10 am until 9:30 pm with admission of $20 per person. For the first time, we will have a Saturday evening show featuring Blue Highway, the Kicking Grass Band and Copper River!!! Tickets for the evening show only (7 pm – 9:30 pm) are $15.
 
On Sunday the performances run from 10 am until 4 pm and the admission is $15. Weekend passes are $30. Children under 16 are free with a paying adult. Camping is included in the price of admission. The AVA Amphitheater is located at 5655 W. Valencia Road approximately 6 miles West of Interstate 19.
