SEEGER Memorial Concert To Be Streamed Live!

PRESCRIPTION BLUEGRAS IMAGE - PETE SEEGERLincoln Center in New York says it will offer a FREE live stream from a weekend memorial concert for Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi.

The free concert will be held Sunday at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park.

It will feature artists and speakers who had a close personal relationship with the Seegers. They include Judy Collins, Harry Belafonte, Dar Williams, Peter Yarrow, Holly Near and Tom Chapin.

Lincoln Center notes that Seeger loved to lead singalongs. In that spirit, it's inviting audiences to take part in a global online singalong.

A song will be selected later this week and lyrics will be available on-screen.

Audience members also will be able to share video of their renditions.

The  five-day festival honoring the late folk singer Pete Seeger is set to feature music, film and remembrances in New York City and the state's Hudson Valley region.

Seeger's grandson Kitama Cahill-Jackson said Wednesday the free Seeger Fest will run July 17-21 and will celebrate the lives of the famous singer and his late wife, Toshi Seeger.

Seeger Fest will include a memorial service at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie (poh-KIHP'-see) and concerts, including one in Manhattan's Central Park. Musical artists involved include the Chapin Sisters, Steve Earle and DJ Kool Herc.

There will be events throughout the Hudson Valley to honor the Seegers' commitment to the community.

Seeger Fest will open with the screening of a documentary about the singer, who died in January at age 94.
