At festivals everywhere, you quite often hear members of the bands give public thanks to the guys in the sound booth.
They know the power the sound man has to make them sound good or not.
One of the best in the business is Dick Pierle’s OLD BLUE SOUND
[Mr. Soundman - Pat Donohue]
Songwriter and performer Chris Stuart wrote in Bluegrass Unlimited that “Old Blue Sound is the Best in the West.”
Chris also wrote that good sound reinforcement for a performer is essential but still probably the most underappreciated aspect of bluegrass music.
We happen to agree with Chris on both points so today, we tip our hat to all sound engineers and technicians and at the same time say; HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mr. Pierle.
